Meyer & Meyer Architecture & Interiors Wins Gold and Silver in 2009 Prism Awards

Meyer & Meyer Architecture & Interiors' received awards in two categories for their outstanding design work at the 2009 Prism Awards. Presented by the Builders Association of Greater Boston, the Prism Awards celebrate the best projects in building, design and marketing throughout the Boston area and beyond.

Meyer & Meyer received the GOLD Award for a Bathroom Remodel (pictured above) in Wellesley, MA. From the traditional exterior of the home you would never expect that the master suite is in the Balinese style. The homeowners visited Bali and loved it, Meyer & Meyer in turn used the Balinese style as the inspiratin for the remodel. The owners are also art collectors and have incorporated their artwork and artifacts wherever possible, including the master bath. An exotic wood, sapele, was used on the floors, walls, and vanities. Countertops were made of the blackest Vermont slate that could be found and textured river stones were used on the shower floor to give feet a massage while using the shower.  The master bath's fireplace is granite and highlighted with an antiquated stone carving brought back from the owners' travels. 

The Silver Award for Best Interior Design of a Kitchen featured a Poggenpohl kitchen in a Back Bay penthouse. As part of a significant restoration of a brownstone, the kitchen was outfitted to reflect the spirited personality of its homeowner who loves to cook and entertain. For this project, Meyer & Meyer created a conceptual kitchen design and then brought in Rosemary Porto, Senior Designer and Sales Manager for Poggenpohl, Boston who worked with the design team on design development and implementation. The kitchen cabinetry is made of Swiss pear wood and aluminum accented with brushed nickel handles. Countertops are semi-precious Concetto quartz. A custom farm sink, Sub Zero Pro 48 fridge, Miele ovens, and Gaggenau combi-set gas cook top complete this award winning kitchen.

Divine Kitchens Wins Gold & Silver 2009 COTY Awards For Both Kitchen and Bath Design

Westborough, MA -- Divine Kitchens won dual awards for the third year in a row at the 2009 Contractor of the Year (COTY) Awards from the National Association of Remodeling Industries (NARI). Divine won Gold for a bright, open contemporary kitchen and Silver for a master bath both located in the same home addition in Sutton, MA.

“The master bath is all about light: natural light, recessed light, chandeliers, pendants and fire glow,” said Mariette Barsoum, owner and design director for Divine Kitchens. “The dramatic soaking tub was placed in front of the windows, giving a seamless view of the private gardens, while the private two-person walk-in shower offers an alternative for bathing.”

Beverly Rivkind Interiors Design Wins the IFDA New England Designer Showcase Award in the Living Room Category

Beverly Rivkind of Beverly Rivkind Interior Design just won the IFDA (International Furnishings and Design Association) New England Designer Showcase award in the living room category for her design in an estate home at World's End in Hingham, MA.

Here is what the IFDA judges had to say about Rivkind's design:
"Big houses have big rooms and in this case, what seemed a cavernous living room became a charming series of rooms within rooms thanks to innovative space planning. By using smaller scale furniture, the designer created a sense of intimacy and warmth. The look is polished, yet inviting. It is a pleasing balance of old and new, an outstanding example of transitional style."

Cameron M. Snyder of Roomscapes Luxury Design Center wins 2009 NKBA Design Competition

Hackettstown, N.J. (June 2009) - The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) is pleased to announce that Cameron M. Snyder, CKD of Roomscapes Luxury Design Center has been names a winner in the 2009 NKBA Design Competition.

Now in its 37th year and open only to NKBA members, the National NKBA Design Competition recognizes the talent of designers to plan safe, functional, and personalized spaces that incorporate imaginative design statements and aesthetically pleasing solutions. A panel of certified designers judged each project based on visual appeal, creativity, elements and principles of design, presentation, and safety and ergonomics. Divine Kitchens Wins two 2008 COTY Awards in New England for Bath Design

Divine Kitchens broke out of the kitchen design category, winning both Gold and Silver Awards for bath design at the 2008 Contractor of the Year (COTY) Awards sponsored by the local chapter of the National Association of Remodeling Industries (NARI). Divine won two kitchen design awards at the same event last year.

“It’s wonderful to be known for our design expertise in both kitchens and baths now,” said Divine owner Mariette Barsoum, who heads the team for this full-service design/build firm. “We have really focused on letting the public know that our knowledge and experience doesn’t stop at kitchens. This is a great way to celebrate that message.”

The bath that won Gold, (pictured above) located in Sutton, MA, is a sleek modern design with a combination of dark wood, glass, exotic tile and stainless steel. The Silver winner, located in Hopkinton, MA, is highlighted by a large glass-walled shower combined with rich traditional woods and subtle cream tile combinations.
